Casa Comal is known for its work and engagement to create a film and audiovisual industry in Central America.
Among the most important achievements of the Casa Comal are the Icaro festival and its 12 years of existence, the implementation of the festival in the capital cities of Central America and the national and international success of the following productions: La Casa de Enfrente, Las Cruces… poblado próximo, VIP…la otra casa y La Bodega with more than two million spectators.

Casa Comal is operating in three mayor fields: teaching, production and distribution of cinematographic work.
In 2006 Casa Comal opened its own film school in cooperation with the Social Communication School of the State University of Guatemala and adapted the study plan of the International Film School of Cuba (EICTV). In 2008 12 students have already been graduating.
